By the 1700‘s, nasal snuff had become the method of choice by the elite of the world to enjoy tobacco. Prominent users at this time were Napoleon, Queen Charlotte of England and Pope Benedict XIII. At this time, snuff taking was also a way to distinguish the aristocracy from the commoners who smoked their tobacco.
